Oahu Tub is pleased to announce the availability of a new commercial grade coating. As with any coating there are pluses and minus. The plus of this coating is that it is more durable than our standard coating. We caution homeowners to not read into this too much as our standard coating is already a premium coating, is very durable, and more practical for many applications. Our new coating, however, is rated for 24/7 water immersion. It is used in swimming pools, hot tubs, and water parks. The adhesion rating and durability are unmatched.
As our business continues to grow, we are acquiring many commercial clients such as health clubs, spas, apartment building owners with high turnover, and companies that have shower facilities for their employees. These facilities are in constant use and this is the perfect coating for them.
The downside of this coating is that it needs 16 hours to cure to be shower ready. It will progressively get more tactile and is finally ready at day 7 for full 24/7 water immersion. Likely you won’t need this unique capability, but we suggest waiting 2-3 days prior to use.
We will be recommending this coating in certain residential environments which present unique challenges to typical coatings. One such application would be a tub plus tiled walk in shower job at the same residence. Assuming the owners are living there, we would want to do the tile shower with our commercial coating and the bathtub in our standard 2 hour dry coating. This allows the homeowners the ability to shower soon after reglazing, but enables them to enjoy the benefits of a super durable commercial grade coating on their tiled shower.
